1. Scope

These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the Lane4 platform operated by the operator identified above. They govern the use of the platform and its functions by registered users.

2. Purpose and subject matter

Lane4 is intended in particular for networking and organization of users involved in swimming. Functions may include user accounts, profiles, sport-related profile data, user search, friend requests, friendships, clubs, club memberships, club administration, club messages, administrative club roles and other sport-related features. The available feature set may be adjusted or extended as the platform evolves.

3. Registration

Registration is required for certain functions. Users must provide accurate information where required for use of the platform. Users are responsible for protecting their access credentials and must not disclose them without authorization.

4. User account

Each user is generally responsible for the use of their account. Accounts may not be used for unlawful or abusive purposes. Users can delete their account through the provided settings.

5. User profiles

Users may provide personal and sport-related information, including username, profile image, date of birth, club, previous clubs, sport roles, main stroke and, where enabled, squad qualification. Users are responsible for the content they provide.

6. Roles

A user may hold several sport roles at the same time, for example athlete and coach. These are separate from administrative roles within a club and global platform-administrator permissions.

7. Friendships

Users may send friend requests to other users. Recipients may accept or decline a request. A friendship is created only after acceptance. There is no entitlement to acceptance.

8. Clubs

Users may create clubs according to the available functionality. The creator initially receives administrative rights for that club. A club may have several admins.

9. Club admins

Club admins may, within the available functions, manage club members, remove members, appoint additional admins and publish club messages. These administrative rights generally apply only within the relevant club.

10. Leaving a club

Members may leave a club. A club admin may leave if at least one other admin remains. If the user is the only admin, another member must first be appointed as an admin.

11. Club messages

Club admins may publish, edit and delete messages and announcements. The respective author is generally responsible for the content. Unlawful, insulting, discriminatory, threatening or otherwise impermissible content is prohibited.

12. User obligations

The platform must not be misused. Prohibited conduct includes unlawful content, threats, insults, targeted harassment, unauthorized publication of personal data, identity misuse, unauthorized account access, manipulation of the platform, circumvention of security measures, malware and automated attacks.

13. Profile images and content

Users may upload only images and other content for which they hold the necessary rights. By uploading, users confirm that no third-party rights are infringed. Users generally retain ownership of their own content. The operator may display and process such content to the extent technically required for operation of the platform.

14. Administrative measures

In the event of violations or misuse, the operator may take appropriate measures, including warnings, restriction of functions, disqualification, temporary suspension, permanent suspension and deletion of the user account. The measure depends on the nature and severity of the violation.

15. Account deletion

Users can delete their account through account settings. Explicit confirmation is required. If the user is the only admin of a club, admin rights must first be transferred to another club member. After successful deletion, account access ends. Data may continue to be stored where required by law or otherwise legally permitted.

16. Availability

The operator aims to provide reliable availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability at all times. Restrictions may result from maintenance, technical faults, development work, server outages, external disruptions or events outside the operator's control.

17. Platform development

The operator may further develop Lane4 technically and functionally. Features may be added, changed, replaced or removed while reasonably considering legitimate user interests.

18. Costs

The currently offered basic functions of Lane4 are free of charge. If paid functions are introduced in the future, separate terms and pricing information will be required.

19. Liability

The final liability provisions require legal review before publication. Until then, no comprehensive or blanket disclaimer is presented as final legal text. Statutory liability rules generally apply.

20. Privacy

Personal data is processed in accordance with the platform's separate privacy notice, which must remain independently accessible from these Terms.

21. Changes to these Terms

The operator may update these Terms where necessary. The final rules on when and how users are informed and when consent is required must be reviewed legally before production use.

22. Final provisions

Final provisions on applicable law, jurisdiction, contract language, consumer rights, dispute resolution and minors must be tailored to the actual operator and business model.
